Bangalore to Bengaluru: New Place Names

Lot of city names officially changed in Karnataka State in India. This city name change phenomenon is happening in all over India and no wonder if you are not finding the city name once you try to book the tickets etc etc

List of City Names changed in Karnataka

Old Name --> New Name
Bangalore --> Bengaluru
Mysore --> Mysuru
Mangalore --> Mangaluru
Gulbarga --> Kalaburgi
Hubli --> Hubballi
Shimoga --> Shivamogga
Chikamagalur --> Chikkamagaluru
Bellary --> Ballary
Bijapur --> Vijapura
Hospet --> Hosapete
Tumkur --> Tumakuru
Kaup --> Kapu
Belgaum -->Belagavi

Those above city name change started in December 2005 and the official declaration from the central Government of India came out recently.

Such a long time span made some 'confusion' among the people.
Look at the 'Delhi Public School South' School Bus in Bangalore.

It is not Bangalore or Bengaluru It is Bengalore . A progressive transformation from Bangalore to Bengaluru!!

Bottom Line:
Any American whose job is outsourced to the city is described as having been "Bangalored".
Now it will change to Bengalored
