Its good to hear that IPL committed to a strong vision of green growth by launching a partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

There is no doubt about that the environmental awareness will reach to millions of people all over the world and especially in India.

But looking into the tournament I have a doubt about what IPL guys doing in the cricket stadium is keeping awareness in their mind !!!! How much fire crackers are they using in each and every match. Do you think this can be justified ?

How much light can be saved if it is running in the day light ?

Not saying IPL is doing good for Green like Climate Neutral Network, the Billion Tree Campaign and World Environment Day. IPL will also promote environmental awareness, highlighting the 2010 International Year of Biodiversity, the Clean-Up the World Campaign and other environmental initiatives in coming years .

The World March will begin in New Zealand on October 2, 2009, the anniversary of Gandhi’s birth, declared the “International Day of Nonviolence” by the United Nations. It will conclude in the Andes Mountains (Punta de Vacas, Aconcagua, Argentina) on January 2, 2010. The March will last 90 days, three long months of travel. It will pass through all climates and seasons, from the hot summer of the tropics and the deserts, to the winter of Siberia. The American and Asian stages will be the longest, both almost a month. A permanent base of a hundred people of different nationalities will complete the journey.

Why

Because we can end world hunger with 10% of what is spent on arms. Imagine how life would be if 30-50% of the arms budget went toward improving people’s lives instead of being used for destruction.

Because eliminating wars and violence means leaving human pre-history behind and taking a giant step forward in the evolution of our species.

You will probably be sick for several days with fever and respiratory symptoms.
Take Medications as Prescribed:

* Take all of the antiviral medication as directed.
* Continue to cover your cough and wash your hands often, even when taking antiviral medications, to prevent spreading influenza to others.
* Call the office if you (or your child) experience any side effects; i.e. nausea, vomiting, rash, or unusual behavior.
* Take medications for symptom relief as needed for fever and pain such as acetaminophen (Tylenol®) and ibuprofen (Advil®, Motrin®, Nuprin ®), and cough medicine. These medicines do not need to be taken regularly if your symptoms improve.
* Do not give aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) or products that contain aspirin (e.g. bismuth subsalicylate – Pepto Bismol) to children or teenagers 18 years old or younger.
* Children younger than 4 years of age should not be given over-the-counter cold medications without first speaking with a health care provider.

Seek Emergency Care If your child experiences any of the following:

* Fast breathing or trouble breathing
* Bluish or gray skin color
* Not drinking enough fluids
* Severe or persistent vomiting
* Not waking up or not interacting
* Being so irritable that the child does not want to be held
* Flu-like symptoms improve but then return with fever and worse cough

In adults, emergency warning signs that need urgent medical attention include:

* Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
* Pain or pressure in the chest or abdomen
* Sudden dizziness
* Confusion
* Severe or persistent vomiting

Follow These Home Care Recommendations:

* Stay home for at least 24 hours after your fever is gone except to get medical care or for other necessities. (Your fever should be gone without the use of fever-reducing medicine.)
* Keep away from others as much as possible. This is to keep from making others sick.
* Drink clear fluids (such as water, broth, sports drinks, electrolyte beverages for infants) to keep from being dehydrated.
* Dishes can be done in dishwasher or with hot soapy water.
* Throw away tissues and other disposable items used by the sick person in the trash. Wash your hands after touching used tissues and similar waste.
* Have everyone in the household wash hands often with soap and water, especially after coughing or sneezing. Alcohol-based hand cleaners* are also effective.
* Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. Germs spread this way.

WHO says us to wash our hands properly to avoid swine flu. So wash your hands frequently like the 'Healthy Hindustan' ad from Lifebuoy soap(about Lifebuoy Soap: In 1894, William Hesketh Lever launched Lifebuoy in the UK as the Royal Disinfectant Soap.)

Clean hands protect against H1N1 or Swine Flu. Keeping our hands clean is one of the most important things we can do to keep from getting sick and from spreading germs to others.

Clean your hands regularly.
Wash your hands with soap and water, and dry them thoroughly.
Use alcohol-based hand rub if you don’t have immediate access to soap and water.

Swine Flu H1N1 is spreading all over the world and the pace will be very high in the highly populated countries like India and China. Indian Government is acting very quickly to make the pandemic under control.

There are lot of questions arising from everywhere 'How to protect my self from Swine Flu / H1Ni'.

Following are some guidelines WHO recommends to prevent Swine Flu

For individuals who are well:
Maintain distance of at least 1 metre from any individual with influenza-like symptoms
• refrain from touching mouth and nose
• perform hand hygiene frequently, by washing with soap and water or using an alcoholbased handrub , especially if touching the mouth and nose and surfaces that are potentially contaminated
• reduce as much as possible the time spent in close contact with people who might be ill
• reduce as much as possible the time spent in crowded settings
• improve airflow in your living space by opening windows as much as possible.

Number of Laboratory cases reported to WHO

For individuals with influenza-like symptoms:
• stay at home if you feel unwell and follow the local public health recommendations
• keep distance from well individuals as much as possible (at least 1 metre)
• cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, with tissues or other suitable
materials, to contain respiratory secretions. Dispose of the material immediately after use
or wash it. Clean hands immediately after contact with respiratory secretions!
• improve airflow in your living space by opening windows as much as possible.

Geographic Spread of Swine Flu / H1N

If masks are worn, proper use and disposal is essential to ensure they are potentially
effective and to avoid any increase in risk of transmission associated with the incorrect
use of masks. The following information on correct use of masks derives from the practices in health-care settings:

• place mask carefully to cover mouth and nose and tie securely to minimise any gaps
between the face and the mask
• while in use, avoid touching the mask - whenever you touch a used mask, for example when removing or washing, clean hands by washing with soap and water or using an alcohol-based handrub
• replace masks with a new clean, dry mask as soon as they become damp/humid
• do not re-use single-use masks
- discard single-use masks after each use and dispose of them immediately upon
removing.

Although some alternative barriers to standard medical masks are frequently used (e.g. cloth
mask, scarf, paper masks, rags tied over the nose and mouth), there is insufficient information available on their effectiveness. If such alternative barriers are used, they should only be used once or, in the case of cloth masks, should be cleaned thoroughly between each use (i.e. wash with normal household detergent at normal temperature). They should be removed immediately after caring for the ill. Hands should be washed immediately after removal of the mask.

"Dear all, In case you come across any suspicious activity, any suspicious movement or have any information to tell to the Anti-Terror Squad, please take a note of the new all India toll-free terror helpline 1090. Your city’s police or Anti-Terror Squad will take action as quickly as possible."

1090 is NOT a terror help line number in India. 1090 is the helpline for senior citizens, run by the city police and Nightingales Medical Trust (still I called 1090 to confirm it from airtel and unfortunately airtel says its not a valid number !!!)

So in case you get a mail like this and what you can do is immediately 'replay to all' and inform that 1090 is NOT a terror helpline.

'Team work' is the keyword to success. The Bangalore kids are learning it in a 'practical way' from their way from home to school.

Today morning I noticed a small car (Maruti Omni 5 seater) which packed with kids near Marathalli Over Bridge, Bangalore. I don't know exactly the total number of kids in the entire cab. In the front seat there were 6 to 7 children squeezed and sitting. A kid is sitting on the lap of the driver too. Its happening in the peak hours traffic in Bangalore.

If parents wants to save money and they are ready to take the risk of their children, then at least the school authority should take action to stop these kind of transportation to the school.

Recently I read an article about an RTO chased a brand new school bus in the Highway and seized it because of the improper documents. Good job, but why the same RTOs are not seeing such incidents in the heart of the city.

Yesterday evening there was an unusual seen in the Bangalore Sky. A 'real' Tornado (though it was a cloud formation). The cloud formed exactly like a Twister. The below shots are taken from MS Ramaiah Hospital near BEL Road.

This 'Tornado' was clearly visible from MG road too.

Once you provide the details to that website, the phishers will immediately change your account user name, password, email, phone number like your communication information with your bank. This will take the phishers to block the communication with your bank.

How you can prevent phishing ?

* Never ever provide any kind of your account details to websites especially your PIN, passwords.

* If you get a mail which looks like from the bank and it there is a link in that mail, just keep your mouse pointer on the link and observer the link bar (which is down in most of the browsers). It will show that the link is leading to some other website.

* You never get banking related mails from yahoo, gmail providers eg: citibankupdates@gmail.com . These are fake mails.

* Immediately check with customer care if you find anything specious

* Try to avoid internet browsers for checking online accounts

* Make sure that https is there in the website address

* Use antivirus program and adware programs in your comptuer and make sure that updates are happening regurerly Suggest Avast Home Free Edition and Adaware 2008 Free home

What is e post ?

In India, epost service is provided by India Post.
ePost Service is launched on 30th January 2004 in India.

Instead of writing a letter, you just mail the matter to India Post. The Indian Postal department will make a print out of your email and will deliver it to address.

How to send an epost?

1. First you have to register online using postal department website and a minimum of Rs. 250 has to be paid at this stage. Credit card will accept here with a surcharge of 6 %

Or you can buy the ePost Prepaid Card from any of the Head Post Offices throughout the country and follow the directions on the card and on-screen.The cards are available in denominations of Rs. 250, Rs. 500, Rs. 2000, Rs. 5000 and Rs. 10,000.

2. Once you have the account with India Post, you can send your 'eletter' to the correct locations.

Cheating in Petrol Pump

"Be careful of BPCX Petrol Pump - Jayanagar Servx Statxon at the South End traffic signal in Jayanagar, Bangalore. The workers here are very sly and seasoned manipulators. They seem to be old hands in this thing.

Just yesterday I wanted to fill up my tank. One of the persons engaged me in talk and was trying to convince me that using a credit card does not attract any transaction fee. This is the first time someone in petrol pump tried to persuade me to use a credit card to make the payment!! Then the person who was actually dispensing the petrol stopped at Rs 150. When I asked him why he had stopped, he told me that he heard that I wanted to fill Rs 150 worth fuel. When I told him I wanted to fill the tank, he continued filling the fuel. He did not show me the zero setting. All this while the other guy kept pestering me about payment with credit card and distracting me. The dispensing guy finally told me that he has filled the tank. This time it came to about Rs. 1180. When I proceeded to pay only Rs 1180 they told me that I need to pay the additional Rs 150 they had filled earlier. I did not have the time to argue since I had to catch up with a meeting. So I feel I ended up paying Rs. 150 more. The manager at the pump was not of much help. He seems to be mixed up with these fellows. Avoid this petrol pump like the plague." - From Sana

One more cheating what I noticed is when they give the balance, there will be a shortage of 100 or 50 rupees. If you start counting, then they will give the missing amount and say some excuse. If you are not paying much attention to your balance, your 50 or 100 will be in their pocket.

The cost of the petrol is too high now a days and every drop count. Which ever petrol pump you visit, put extra care in the petrol pumps in Bangalore, India

Have you seen a group of birds flying in the morning or evening time? Its shape is similar to that. Pretty sure its not an air plane nor Comet. Color of the light is somewhat dim bright ones. Can say around 30 to 40 light object set were in that seen.

Not just that, despite the simple fact that ports can be shifted while turtle nesting grounds can not, Tata Steel continues to build the Dhamra port.

I have been a follower of the Tata story and role you are looking to play in shaping modern India. Surely a decision to protect the Dhamra area and shift your port to an alternative environmentally-benign site will be more in keeping with the image that the Tatas project, and the legacy left by men such as JRD Tata, than the current position you have adopted?

I earnestly urge you to look at alternative locations for the Dhamra port. Such a decision will raise the Tata standing in my eyes and, I am sure, in the eyes of millions of Indians, not to mention an increasing global audience.'

How can we improve the traffic condition in our city? Infrastructure is NOT a single answer for improve our traffic condition, Any Reasons? Yes, one reason is just you!!!

We have infrastructure up to some extend and the most important is how we use it and how we maintain it. With respect to traffic both are not 'applicable' to MOST of us.

How we use it? Even we have some level of infrastructure and how many of you are using it in an effective way? How many of we respect the fellow drives? We have only one policy when we drive - My vehicle, my time and my destination. Not body looking back or not knowing because of him/her a huge traffic block is forming in a junction. Just stopping you and allowing others to pass in a junction will not form a huge traffic jam is just an example. But not doing this is forming huge traffic jams is so regular in Bangalore. Most of the traffic jams forming is just because of irresponsible driving and no respect to the fellow drivers.

How we maintain it? If we are looking into most of the roads, only 70% of the road is using and the 15 % of outer sides of the road is not using. Can we blame it to the drivers? Not at all. Bumpy, pot holed, sand filled roads, drainage holes of the outer sides of the roads make sure that you will not reach the destination. All the drivers know about the sides of the road and no body will take a risk. If the authorities will take initiative and well maintain (15 + 15) % of the road
will boost the confidence of the drives and all will start using those part of the road. Manteca the infrastructure will get a 30 % of extra roads doing a little budget.

Just near the park I inquired a Traffic Police about the Police Traffic Park and he is not at all aware of a park with a name related with his profession.

Lot of talks going on in Bangalore and its famous traffic. Majority of the people are not following the traffic rules. One more thing we have to take care is that if you follow the complete traffic rule, you will end up with some trouble. Once I stopped my bike for crossing the road for few school kids and heard some 'old anna sambar' in the morning. What they told is you should not stop the bike it seems. What I will say to those notorious drivers. They think that road is only for the two wheelers.

No wonder why it is ? Look at the above photo . Learning school car stopped right down the NO parking sign. You can see one more Learning school car behind that. How the students from those kind of schools will follow and respect the traffic rule ? No wonder Bangalore traffic is getting worse day by day

Right side of the drum is hitting by a strong 'stick' and the left side is hitting by the plane hand. The dress colors are in black, yellow and red. All are with the smiling faces and danced with full of energy.

According to BBMP from January 16 to February 29, underpasses will be constructed in Cauvery Theatre, Windsor Manor, Hebbal Road, BDA junctions. But at last, Cauvery Theatre junction underpass almost finished, but not with in 72 hours as BBMP promised.

It started on 16th January 2008 and almost finished by 20th February 2008 Any how with in a month's time the work is almost finished and ready for inauguration. Any how estimation was completely flop, still the work they carried out should really appreciated.

Nuwar.OL worm appears as an e-mail with subject lines such as, "I Love You So Much" "Inside My Heart" or "You In My Dreams"

Once opened, the e-mail looks like a romantic greeting card with a big pink heart. It contains a link to a Web site that downloads the bad code. Once infected, the worm will generate mass e-mails, spreading the virus to the infected user's contacts. This will generate a heavy load on networks and slows down the computer.

Valentin.E also spreads by e-mail. The messages contain subjects like Searching for true Love or True Love and an attached file called "friends4u" Once the file opened, the worm instantly downloaded to the user's computer. The code installs as a file with the .scr extension. Valentin.E shows a new desktop background to trick the user, while making several copies of itself. Finally, the worm sends out emails from the infected computer to spread and infect more users.The worm will then mass e-mail the virus to all the user's contacts.
